Burnin' Rubber 5 is the fifth installment in the Burnin' Rubber series which was first released on April 23, 2013. 

Gameplay

The player is supposed completing challenges on various circuits where they race against others with weaponry.

They start off by picking the only vehicle available at first, the A7, picking weapons like the Machine Gun and then head their way onto circuits such as Speedway with the help of health, nitro and cash pickups in order to win and unlock new challenges like Railway Station, new vehicles like the Vice, weapons like the Railgun alongside special weapons that can rotate 360 degrees and cash to buy everything they unlocked as well as upgrades and liveries for the vehicles they got.

Hidden Packages are located in each level, once they are all collected, they will unlock the Joker RC. There are also Daily Challenges every day. When the player beats a Daily Challenge, they can unlock new vehicles like the Miyamoto. The daily challenges cannot be played once done for another twenty-four hours.

After completing all challenges, the player is supposed to start start the last challenge, named The End, which is marked with a mysterious icon instead of a race, team versus or a boss battle icon.

Remake

On February 14, 2018, it was brought back and remade in an attempt to save web games from extinction due to websites not hosting them any longer for outdated game engines and their respective plugins. It can only be played when paid here or here.

Trivia

  • It is the only game in the series that features end credits.
  • It is one of the only two Burnin' Rubber games (along with Burnin' Rubber) to feature lapped tracks.
  • It is the only game in the series to feature seven opponents, unlike previous installments, which only features three opponents, except for Burnin' Rubber, which only has one opponent.
  • It is the only game in the series with level and experience points mechanic that is used to unlock new weapons.
  • It is the only game with hidden vehicles that can be unlocked by methods other than collecting Hidden Packages.
  • Burnin' Rubber 5 featured publisher advertisements on the A7. One skin design featured Shockwave's logo and the other Addicting Games logo. They were removed in the HD remake and Burnin' Rubber: Shift.
    • Burnin' Rubber 4 had the same issue with the Bullet 350, in which the second paint job scheme design featured Shockwave's logo. This paint job scheme was also altered in its standalone release.
  • Burnin' Rubber 5 has the most pre-release information publicly available, unlike the other Burnin' Rubber games.
  • It is one of the last two Burnin' Rubber games that was made with Adobe Director engine, along with Burnin' Rubber: Shift.
  • This game was supposed to be released for free on Steam, but due to problems between Steam and Xform with pricing, the game had to be bought with money from Steam.
  • Burnin' Rubber 5 HD has 25 more cars than the original. The Steam version only has 13, while the extra 12 in the Itch.io version are impossible to unlock due to missing code.
  • In spite of Shockwave and Addicting Games are no longer the publishers of Xform, they are still credited in the end credits.
    • Adobe is also credited, even though this is only true for the original web game, as Burnin' Rubber 5 HD runs on the Unity engine.
  • Xform got the Dutch Game Award Nomination Award for this game in October 2013.
  • It is the first Burnin' Rubber game in the series to not have the Vulcan as the starter vehicle, the other being Burnin' Rubber 4.
